Got up this morning with less than 24 hours to go. I am leaving at 5am tomorrow, trying to beat the New Jersey morning rush. Changed the oil and filter on the bike, checked all around including the pannier rack to make sure nothing was loose and all bolts and nuts were tight, packed a 13mm wrench in my tool kit, and mounted the panniers on the bike.
Loaded my little tank bag with a notepad and my Canon T3i SLR, it's easy to take a picture without having to dismount from the bike. Bike is now back in the garage and I'm going to hit the bed early and try to get some sleep.
Are you kidding me - will you really be able to sleep with just 8 hours, 8 minutes and 17 seconds to go? (Hopefully you are already sleeping blissfully). Will be following your adventure. Bike looks ready and I saw the beautiful packing job!
ReplyDeleteLess than 6 hours and I'm still on my laptop freeing up space, moving lots of pictures already taken this year to my home computer. Damn networks are so slow...;-)
DeleteYou don't need any of us to tell you to have fun.
ReplyDeleteRide safe and post lots of pictures. I'll be watching your SPOT track...
Thanks
DeleteLooking good. Somehow I don't think you'll be able to sleep much either.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the old Disneyland commercial with the little boy that says "Can't sleep - too excited."
Can't wait to read your ride reports.......
I usually don't go to sleep until 11:30 and then still watch the beginning of David Letterman until about 12, I knew I wasn't going to be able to go to bed early, too many things to take care off at the last minute :-(
DeleteGoing to bed in 5 minutes :-)
george:
ReplyDeletehope you managed to grap a few winks. The worst thing that could happen is that you sleep through your alarm and leave late
have a good trip, we're excited for you too

Nah, didn't sleep through the alarm but didn't sleep much either.
DeleteThe last time the bike is going to look that clean eh?
ReplyDeleteI'd be struggling to sleep too.
I can't weight (although I'll probably be able to sleep) for the posts from the road. All the best for the trip and stay safe man!
Thanks Andrew
DeleteYeah, I have that problem the day before my trips. Have Fun, Ride Safe!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rex
DeleteI almost never get any sleep the night before a big trip. My mind is racing, did I pack everything, what did I forget... I've been following you track through out he day. Do you even stop to eat? Holy crap that's a lot of miles. You're making good time on the Interstate. You'll be in Cameron when Kevin opens Scrambler Cycle!
ReplyDelete930 miles today, tried to go around Chicago but still ran into afternoon traffic. Spending the night in Yorkville. Do you know Kevin? I'm having new tires installed tomorrow.
DeleteLooks like you're doing great, George. The SPOT link is working fine and it' cool to follow your progress. 930 miles...that's the way to do it! Dan
ReplyDeleteThanks for following Diego. I wanted to cover as many miles as possible today, I wasn't even tired, I just don't like to ride through country roads at night so decided to stop at 930.
