It's getting closer to my departure date and torrential rains are causing havoc in the Yukon.
Government officials are calling it "an unprecedented event" of mudslides and washouts all over the territory. The Alaska Highway between Watson Lake and Teslin was closed but should be open by now. Various other parts of the Alaska Highway were also closed but repairs crews are working non-stop to re-open the major thoroughfare between Yukon and Alaska.

Flooding creates weekend mayhem in Yukon
Wow, I didn't realize they were getting hammered with so much rain.
ReplyDeleteI am sure things will dry up and clear up by the time you are rolling through.
My fingers are crossed Mother Nature cooperates and takes her meds.
I hope so, I'm confident they will fix everything fast since the Alaska Hwy is the only road north in some areas.
DeleteWow. The power of watere is simply amazing. Will this impact your route?
ReplyDeleteI have to be in Whitehorse by the 30th of June, everything should be fine by then.
DeleteYou will be ok George, just stick a knobbly on earlier than planned, and ride over the top of the stuff! I will be here all week offering good advice! :)
ReplyDeleteI am planning on installing Heidenau's K60 in Cameron, Wisconsin, I will definitely be riding knobbies by the time I enter Canada :-)
DeleteCan't ride over the water though ;-)
That's what I was thinking, after all you have a dual sport. Who needs roads!? ;-)
ReplyDeleteDual sport and knobbies are not going to help when the road is gone like in the above picture ;-)
DeleteJust pretend you are Ewan McGregor on the Kolyma a.k.a. Road of Bones... No problem for a bike like yours.
ReplyDeleteGreat! The bike will get dirty!
